Alex Volkanovski - UFC Connected

This feature for UFC Connected was filmed in Alex Volkanovski’s home city of Wollongong during his fight camp, where access and timing were extremely limited. Production was scheduled around elite-level training commitments, leaving a narrow window to capture interviews, training, and environmental coverage without disrupting preparation for fight night.

The shoot was executed with a compact crew of two camera operators, producer and a dedicated sound recordist, prioritising speed, adaptability, and efficiency. A mobile lighting approach and gimbal-led camera movement enabled rapid transitions between setups while maintaining visual consistency and broadcast-ready quality.

The final film was distributed across UFC Connected broadcast platforms and published across the UFC’s digital and social channels, reaching a global audience of 300 million followers. The piece blends intimate interview moments with high-energy training visuals to deliver an authentic, grounded portrait of one of the sport’s most respected champions—captured on home ground during the most critical phase of fight preparation before the big night on January 31st.
